We have real genuine Japanese Samurai Art gathered in the 1900s and 1920s and then sold to me in the 1970s so I know the provenance on many and will tell you. Although semi-retired now, and often ill, I have personally in my career bought studied and then sold over 10,000 Japanese Samurai Swords. I think no other collector or dealer in the world can make this claim. Since I used to sell 500 per year, and am a registered and licensed japanese Samurai Sword dealer in Japan where all swords are registered, you can easily see that in 26 years of owning a Gallery here in Tokyo I have held in my hands and studied and held over 10,585+ blades. I see a lot of fakes, false appraisal papers, pawn shops, and heavily restored items being offered on the web to "foreigners" ; but I have my own style and prefer it. Nearly all my swords and art come without appraisal papers as nearly every advanced collector knows that these are mostly bought behind the scenes with money, not high workmanship and correct signatures. Did you know that swords in Japan with false, untrue appraisals papers actually bring a premium on the wholesale market? This is because such swords can be bought cheaply, and resold quickly to trusting, unsuspecting "foreigners" overseas. How sad! So, I sell swords not based on papers but on quality that you can see with your own eyes.
